James W. Cobb, Jr., O.D., FAAO

Dr. Cobb was born in Bradenton, FL. As a dependent in a military family, he had the opportunity to live in many locations in the United States and around the world but his roots and heart have always been in Florida. Dr. Cobb received his BS degree in Biology from Florida State University in 1966 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 1970. Following receipt of his Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Cobb served on active duty in the USAF at the USAF Medical Center at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi.

In 1974 Dr. Cobb returned to Florida to begin his private practice in Brevard County. After a short time in association with the late Dr. John Bradford in Melbourne, Dr. Cobb opened the Palm Bay practice in 1976. The practice moved to its current location on Harris Avenue in 1985.

Dr. Cobb remained active in the USAF Reserves and served on active duty during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He has been active in community activities including the Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Palm Bay Rotary Club, The Palm Bay High School Boosters, Trinity Presbyterian Church, the Indian River Kontrol Society, the Sebastian Inlet Sportfishing Association and was active for many years as a coach in the Palm Bay Little League Association.

Dr. Cobb continually enhances his professional qualifications and was admitted into the American Academy of Optometry in 1996. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Southeaster Council of Optometrists. Dr. Cobb served as an officer and President of the Brevard Optometric Association and went on to serve as a Trustee and officer of the Florida Optometric Association. In 2004 Dr. Cobb was elected to serve as President of the Florida Optometric Association.

Dr. Cobb enjoys the challenges of a full scope Optometric practice. Routine vision examinations, pediatric evaluations, geriatric services, LASIK and cataract surgery co-management, medical management of glaucoma and other ocular diseases and specialized contact lens services are among the many services Dr. Cobb provides to his patients.

Lisa, Optician

Lisa received a BS at Nova University in 1995, with a specialization in Optometry. She has worked in the Optical field for over 25 years. Lisa is ABO and NCL Certified. She owned her own Optical Practice for 5 years in South Florida and moved to Brevard County in 2006. Lisa specializes in frame styling for each individual patient.

Elena, Front Office Coordinator

Elena has been employed at Brevard Vision Associates since April, 2005. She has 15 years of optometric experience, including work in an optical department, as a technician, and in a front office. She loves to travel, cook, and spend time with family. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Leslie, Optometric Technician

Leslie graduated from Mount Watchusett Community College 2005 with an Associates Degree in Business. Working in Opthalmology for 8 years she specializes in contact lenses fitting and training. She is originally from Massachusetts and enjoys visiting her family in the winter.
